Scope and Contents From the Sub-Series: Illustrations of decorative art pieces comprise the bulk of documentation in this subseries, suggesting that Kimball relied on design books published by or about 18th and 19th century cabinetmakers and other carvers. Many of Kimball's images note The Gentleman and Cabinet Maker's Director by Thomas Chippendale as their source.
