Scope and Contents From the Sub-Series: Dumbarton House was built around 1800 in the Federal style, and is located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The house was purchased in 1928 by the National Society of The Colonial Dames of America to serve as the association's headquarters. The Society hired local architect Horace W.
