Front matter Ms and Ts, correspondence and notes, 1949-1952, undated
Scope and Contents
By the spring of 1949 Kimball was planning to write on the Louis XVI architectural style with his longtime friend and noted French interior designer, André Carlhian. In November 1951, Kimball sent Carlhian a draft of the book's foreword, which appears to be all he ever wrote. By the beginning of 1953, Kimball informed Carlhian that he was abandoning the idea, feeling that his project would not prove worthwhile or original. The one file to this sub-subseries consists of Kimball's draft manuscript and typescript, a few notes and several pieces of correspondence with Carlhian written between 1949 and 1952. Kimball's letter dated January 12, 1953, remains in the "General correspondence" series.
