Committee membership, 1923, undated

Between 1922 to 1925, Kimball served as Chairman of the American Institute of Architects' Committee on Preservation of Historic Monuments and Scenic Beauties. This Committee was dedicated to "fostering all movements looking to the preservation of Historic Monuments and Scenic Beauties, and of increasingly extending the influence of the Institute through public service of this kind." During his tenure, Kimball expanded the Committee from six to nearly 50 members representing almost all Chapters of the Institute. The Committee's work was limited primarily to raising awareness about the importance of historic buildings and giving nominal support to grassroots preservation organizations. During his tenure, the Committee was involved in the efforts to preserve High Bridge and Madison Square Garden in New York City, the Ohio State Capitol in Columbus, Ohio, Independence Mall in Philadelphia, and various Colonial houses throughout the East Coast. The files are comprised primarily of Kimball's correspondence with committee members, including Thomas E. Tallmadge, and clippings.
