 Sub-Series

Scope and Contents

The most prominent correspondent represented in this subseries is Eli Kirk Price, who served as vice president of the Commission until his death in 1933. Price was also the Museum's corporate president from 1927 to 1933. The other individual correspondents are Thomas Martin, Commission secretary until 1937, and William Frey, who served as assistant secretary and later as assistant treasurer. His papers are included within Martin's folders. After their tenures, Kimball kept his Commission papers filed as a group, rather than by the individual commissioner. This arrangement has been retained since Kimball appears to have dealt with more than one officer on various individual matters. Included in these later Commission folders are Emory McMichael, Joseph Carson, Kirkland W. Dwier, and Charles I. Thompson. In the order noted, most served as vice president before becoming president. During the 1940s, O.B.G. Fullaway and Norman W. Garrett served as assistant secretary and assistant treasurer. Other personnel represented were those stationed in the Belmont Office in Fairmount Park. Those files primarily reflect the service of Chief Engineer Alan Corson and Superintendent Russsell Vodges.
