Material consists of correspondence, invoices and receipts, and ephemera. Because of the tax deductions associated with many of McIlhenny's contributions, a significant amount of related material can be found in the "Tax files" subseries of the "Financial records" series....

Scope and Contents From the Series: While this series includes Kimball's correspondence with many of the same individuals and institutions represented in the various subject-related series, the bulk of "General correspondence and related material" documents his long-term association with organizations devoted to professional development and scholarship. Kimball's most consistent correspondents include the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the American Association of Museums (AAM), and the Association of Art Museum...

Scope and Contents From the Sub-Series:

This sub-subseries contains routine correspondence with institutions and individuals. Most often the subject of this correspondence is requests for information about Johnson objects, requests for photographic reproductions of objects and permissions to reproduce these images, and requests for publications about the Johnson collection.

The last group of material is correspondence addressed to Henri Marceau after his death on September 15, 1969, handled by Barbara Sweeny.
