Scope and Contents From the Series: It appears that the two ornate, leather-bound Bibles filed here as "Library, other" were never included in any Johnson inventories--neither the estate inventories in this collection, nor the inventories included in the curatorial records. Yet both clearly belonged to Johnson. As an inscription on one of the front matter pages makes evident, the volume published in 1847 was a gift to Johnson's parents from the Reverend Samuel Pancoast and his wife Sarah Louise.
