Henry P. McIlhenny, former Curator of Decorative Arts and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, was an avid art collector who bequeather the entirety of his collection to the Philadelphia Museum of Art upon his death in 1986. Joseph Rishel, Curator of European Painting before 1900, organized this exhibition of McIlhenny's collection in conjunction with the Director and the curatorial staff.
