In 1984, the Philadelphia Museum of Art collaborated with the Gemäldegalerie, Staatliche Museen Preussischer Kulturbesitz of West Berlin, Germany and the Royal Academy of Arts in London, England to organize and exhibit an exhibition of 118 Dutch genre paintings. Peter Sutton, Associate Curator of European Paintings before 1900, installed the exhibition in Philadelphia and wrote the award-winning catalogue that accompanied the show.
