Scope and Content Note From the Sub-Series: Drawn from the permanent collection, "Impressions of the Front" features 86 brightly colored wood-block prints chronicling the events of the Sino-Japanese War. These images are particularly notable for their portrayal of ordinary recruits displaying the traditional ideals of bravery and courage that had previously been reserved for high officers.
