 Sub-Series

Scope and Contents

In 1999, Innis Shoemaker curated an exhibtion dedicated to the Philadelphia-born artist, Earl Horter, including some 50 paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints by the seminal European figures in early modern art such as Picasso, Braque, Duchamp and Brancusi, as well as Horter's American colleagues such as Charles Sheeler and Arthur B. Carles. These records document the planning necessary to execute the exhibition, featuring extensive archival research, object files for exhibited works, correspondence, preparatory texts for the exhibtion catalogue, and a variety of administrative materials regarding funding, installation, and related programming.
