"Philadelphia: Three Centuries of American Art." 1976 April 11-October 10, 1974-1976
Scope and Content Note
The centennial anniversary of the Philadelphia Museum of Art was directly tied to the nation's tricentennial celebrations. In order to pay tribute to the city and the country, Darrel Sewell, the Curator of American Art, coordinated an exhibition that highlighted Philadelphia artists working in all mediums from 1776-1976. Ann Percy, Associate Curator of Drawings, collaborated with Sewell to bring together an impressive selection of prints, drawings, and photographs for "Philadelphia: Three Centuries of American Art". Included in this series are artists files containing three years of Percy's research and working files that illustrate the cooperative nature of this exhibition.
