These records currently represent two legal transactions carried out on behalf of the Museum. The first series pertains to the Museum's 1984 acquisition of certain master European prints and drawings from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Files consists of correspondence, research and notes, clippings, inventories, and settlement and closing documents.

The second series pertains to the Estate of John G. Johnson, whose art collection has been maintained by the Philadelphia Museum of Art and housed here since the 1930s. Comprising this series is a transcript of a hearing held January 2006 in Philadelphia's Court of Common Pleas.
