Biographical / Historical
Mary Givens Kane was hired at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1944 as the Administrative Assitant to Fiske Kimball, the Director of the museum at the time. Ms. Kane transitioned to her position as Office Manager a few years later; she then worked in this position for the remainder her time at the museum. As she relays in the interview, Ms. Kane managed the museum's professional staff, which was quite small at the time. She also served as Assitant to the Librarian, Dr. Julian Boyd.
