Various Pavilion Views, including proposed "Gregory" Pediment, William M. Rittase, photographer
Scope and Contents
This series contains photographs of and relating to the main building that range from drawings submitted in 1895 for the design competition to the installation of the pediment figures and views of the Museum after completion. The "Design" subseries consists of photographs of the drawings, floor plans, and models documenting the various proposals and approved design. Most of the photographs of the "Construction" subseries are weekly progress reports of the building’s construction between 1926 and 1928 commissioned by the builder George A. Fuller Co. for the architects, Trumbauer, Zantzinger & Borie. The "Views" subseries consists of images of the Museum's exterior and interior, with detail photographs and photographs of the Museum at night.
