Scope and Contents
While architects are the primary individuals documented, Kimball also compiled information of other prominent individuals. Artists include Benjamin West, Winslow Homer, and John Singer Sargent, as well as the contemporary sculptor Chaim Gross. Art collectors, such as Henry Clay Frick, and writers, such as Henry Adams are also included. Material related to Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Nicholas Biddle document the architectural works associated with each historical figure. Most of the material consists of clippings and photographs, in addition to a postcard, prospectus and journal.
