American Colonial and Classical Revival. Houses. Middle Atlantic. 2:2. [oversize C box], 1930, 1936, 1942
Scope and Contents
The material in this subseries examines several styles in the history of architecture and consists primarily of clippings, multiple-part articles, photographs, and prints of drawings. Most of the files document a subject Kimball wrote about regularly--American domestic architecture of the Colonial and early Republic periods. Those files are identified here as ''American Colonial and Classical Revival." In addition to houses, a few other building types are also documented, and like the former, are further divided by region. The first subgroup of files identified as "American" consist of general surveys of architecture, with a few comments on modern. Another style with a substantial amount of documentation is "Elizabethan." The material consists solely of approximately 85 cyanotypes, all of which appear to be English interiors. Most are unidentified.
