 Sub-Series

Scope and Contents

Kimball's research consisted of biographical and genealogical material regarding Latrobe, as well as research material on specific aspects of his career, such as his work as first Surveyor of Public Buildings in the United States. Other material includes extensive research correspondence; clippings; photographs; and copies of Latrobe's correspondence from various archival repositories with notable Americans, including Thomas Jefferson and Dolly Paine Madison. Kimball compiled photostatic reproductions of many of Latrobe's architectural drawings, including those for West Point Military Academy, the Unitarian Church in Baltimore, and the Arsenal in Pittsburgh; these, along with related research material, are organized geographically in the "Buildings and designs by Latrobe" folders.
