Personal papers and records, 1907-1957, undated
Scope and Contents
This series comprises materials and subjects that document the more personal aspects of Kimball's busy life. The "Family correspondence" and "Letterbooks and other journals" subseries document his close relationship with his parents and sister. The "Subject" subseries includes Kimball's records as a grammar school graduate, as well as information about his estate. Kimball's life is also chronicled from childhood to adult in many of the photographs comprising the final subseries, "Photographs, artwork and artifacts." Images of his wife Marie at various ages are also included as are photographs of other family, friends and a few places to which Kimball was attached personally and professionally.
As with many of his relatives, Kimball's relationships with other individuals often mixed business with pleasure. For that reason, his correspondence with such people and with other non-family acquaintances has been retained in the "General Correspondence" series. Similarly, correspondence with businesses concerning personal matters, such as letters to a moving company or retailer, also remains in "General Correspondence," with the exception of certain corporate correspondence files included in the "Subject" subseries.
