Scope and Contents

This subseries consists of account books for transactions made in Philadelphia and Ireland, wage account books for Glenveagh and Philadelphia staffs, investment journals for Girard Bank, First Pennsylvania Bank and Northern Banking Company, petty cash journals, and Bernice Wintersteen's account books. Special attorney books account for the transactions made by McIlhenny's secretaries, Helen Heritage and later Mary Coogan, on behalf of the household.

The collection is open for research but certain insurance and personal information, conservation reports, and appraisals are restricted. Excerpts of restricted material may be made available at the discretion of the Archivist.
