Biography

J. Stogdell Stokes was President of the Corporation from 1933 until his death in 1948, a member of the Board of Trustees from 1923 to 1947, and Chairman of the Museum Fund of 1928. Under his guidance the Museum acquired the Barnard and Foulc collections. With WPA craftsmen, period rooms were installed and galleries completed.
