Audio-Visual Department Records
Scope and Contents
The collection contains a wide-range of media from Philadelphia Museum of Art events, including footage from exhibitions, interviews, lectures and shows. Formats include 16mm films, 1/2" open reel video, 3/4" open reel video, Betacam, D2, DVCam, SVHS, audiocassette tapes, CDs and DVDs. Paper records include correspondence, equipment information, department administrative records, papers related to the creation of slideshows and video presentations, and documents related to specific exhibitions at the museum.

Conditions Governing Use
The Audio-Visual Department Records are the physical property of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Archives. The Museum holds literary rights only for material created by Museum personnel or given to the Museum with such rights specifically assigned. For all other material, literary rights, including copyright, belong to the authors or their legal heirs and assigns. Researchers are responsible for obtaining permission from rights holders for publication and for other purposes as stated.

Abstract
The collection contains media from museum events, including exhibitions, interviews, lectures and shows. It also contains paper records from the Audio-Visual Department that covers exhibitions, slide shows, equipment-related information, correspondence, and assorted ephemera from events including clippings, photographs, pamphlets, and fliers.
Custodial History
These materials were transferred to the Archives by the Audio-Visual Department in January 2017. The bulk of the films from the original transfer were then transferred to the Anthology Film Archives, due to their commercial nature. The museum ran a film series and the films were used for that purpose, but were not created by museum employees or document the museum or its collections. The remaining films, which did directly relate to the museum, were retained and digitized in Summer 2019.

Digitized Audio-Visual Department Records. A selection of materials were digitized in 2017 and 2019 with the generous assistance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art Women's Committee.
